For five years, our regional farmers have been coming to visit you on Knoxville's Market Square. Now, we're inviting you to join us on a visit to their farms. What better way to learn the source of your local food, than to stand in the fields where our local farmers work?
Join us in 2008 for the debut of our "To the Source Farm Tours." Each month during the season, we'll take a tour of some of East Tennessee's farms where we'll meet the people who make our food and learn about their farms and products.
Our June tour is entitled, "Community Supported Agriculture." Join us on Sunday, June 22 as we visit two farms in Pioneer, Tennessee: Spring Creek Farm and A Place of the Heart Farm. Both farms have been vendors at the Market Square Farmers' Market since the MSFM began in 2003.
We'll see their crops, get a tour of the fields, and meet some goats and
chickens. At A Place of the Heart we will be picnicking and can wade in the
creek (if you desire).
Tickets for the tour are $20 per person. Advance registration is required and space is limited, so contact Charlotte Tolley about reserving your seat soon. Shuttles will leave Market Square on Sunday, June 22 at noon. Shuttles will return around 5 p.m. To reserve your space on this tour, or for information about future tours, contact Charlotte Tolley at (865) 405-3135 or via e-mail at charlottetolley@hotmail.com.
